As a 1st generation Mexican American college graduate, I understand what it means to accomplish a goal only you can see possible. My younger self was lost and could not even dream of becoming a Life Coach, let alone a business entrepreneur. I remember how much I felt supported by individuals who encouraged and pushed me through obstacles without judgment. That support led me to the career path I have today.
Becoming a parent at a young age, I know that it takes a village to not only thrive but to also remove barriers that you can’t see in the future. This is why I developed a passion for youth work and working in the community. I received my Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice Administration in 2011. While working and volunteering at Youth Guidance Center in San Francisco, I facilitated Life Skill and employment workshops, tutored incarcerated youth for the G.E.D., and hosted a program for probation youth to complete their assigned probation hours through various hands-on activities. In 2012, I received a Certificate of Honor from the Board of Supervisors in the City and County of San Francisco for my commitment, dedication, and time spent tutoring incarcerated youth in San Francisco ensuring they have the educational opportunities needed to succeed. Most recently in 2020, I received my certificate in Mediation Fundamentals from the Peninsula Conflict Resolution Center and continued my journey to become a Master Certified Life Coach from the Certified Life Coach Institute. For the last 13 years, I have been honored to work with young adults and youth with unique circumstances. While working and volunteering at Youth Guidance Center in San Francisco, I facilitated Life Skill and employment workshops, tutored incarcerated youth for the G.E.D., and hosted a program for probation youth to complete their assigned probation hours through various hands-on activities. Later, I joined the Independent Living Skills Program as a case manager with both foster youth and probation youth to provide Life Skills Workshops, Case Management, and Crisis Intervention. Lastly, I worked as a Program Manager with Transitional Age Foster youth and Probation youth overseeing a 162-bed facility. My focus was to prepare each of my youth for aging out of the system. I partnered with my team, outside stakeholders, and youth to develop individual transitional plans, host on-site life skill workshops, search for housing opportunities, and provide trauma-informed care through our mental health service component.
